Website design

Websites that bring in customers.

Elevate & Code designs and builds custom websites for small businesses across the Bay Area, Sacramento, Napa and Yolo County. Every site is built around one job: turning visitors into calls, quote requests and bookings, and showing up when people search for what you do.

What does a small business website need to do?

It needs to answer three questions in seconds: what you do, where you do it, and how to reach you. Everything else is there to build trust or remove doubt before someone calls.

  • A clear first screen

Your service, your area and a call button, visible before anyone scrolls.

  • Proof

Real photos, reviews, licenses and past work, shown where people decide.

  • One obvious next step

Call, request a quote, book or order, the same action repeated on every page.

  • Speed on a phone

Most local searches happen on a phone. Most of our live client sites load their main content in about a second.

  • Found in search

Page titles, local schema, service pages and a sitemap, built in from day one.

What's included in a website build?

Strategy, design, development, copy, search setup and launch, plus the system that handles what comes in when it's needed.

  • Discovery

We learn how you win jobs and what customers ask before they buy.

  • Design and build

Custom design, hand-built code, mobile-first. No page-builder bloat.

  • Copy

Written around the questions your customers search for.

  • Lead capture

Forms that ask for what you need to quote, with instant confirmations and alerts.

  • SEO and AI search setup

Titles, descriptions, schema, sitemap, llms.txt and Google Search Console.

  • Launch and handoff

Domain, hosting and analytics set up in your name. You own everything.

Do you redesign existing websites?

Yes. A redesign keeps what already works (your URLs, your rankings, your content that converts) and rebuilds the rest.

Before changing anything we map every existing URL, so links and search rankings carry over. Our rebuild for the Romanian Mission Society keeps every one of its existing addresses for exactly this reason.

How long does a website take?

Most small business sites go live in two to four weeks once content is in. The biggest factor is how quickly photos, details and feedback arrive.

The Handy Butler homepage: the handyman who shows up like a butler

The Handy Butler

Website and local search · San Ramon, CA

“Got my first customer off the website. They used chat to find a handyman in the area. Yelp reached out not even 9 hours after I added my business, and the guy said the website was the coolest he's seen, with the video going through the house.” Jacob Fewx

Frequently asked questions

Do I own my website?

Yes. The domain, hosting account, content and design are in your name. Engravit, for example, owns its domain and hosting outright.

Do you use WordPress, Wix or Squarespace?

Most of our sites are hand-built (HTML, CSS and JavaScript) so they load fast and need little upkeep. We use Framer when a client wants to edit pages visually, and Next.js when the site needs a database or an admin.

Can I update the site myself?

Yes, if you want to. We can add a simple admin or a CMS so you can change text, photos, products and posts without us.

Do you work outside the Bay Area?

Yes. We work with businesses across the Bay Area, Sacramento, Napa, Solano, Sonoma and Yolo counties, in person or online.

How much does a website cost?

It depends on the number of pages, who writes the copy, and whether you need booking, ordering or automation. We give a fixed quote after a free 30-minute call. Our guide explains what drives the price.
